Born and raised in St.John’s, NFLD, Selena is very proud of her Newfie heritage, and makes efforts to return annually. Selena left the island and moved to Ottawa to obtain her BA in Psychology and Criminology from Carleton University in 1991. After a holiday in BC, Selena moved to Prince Rupert, where she created a beautiful family as well as a career counselling children and families experiencing violence. Observing a growing need in the communities for a positive sexual health education, she became an OPT certified sexual health educator in 2011.
Today, with over 27 years of professional experience counselling and teaching, she enjoys managing her own business, Body of Knowledge Sexual Health Education.
Selena is very committed to the sexual empowerment of others. Her primary goal is to alleviate the shame and embarrassment often associated with sexual education. She thoroughly enjoys interjecting humour into her teachings, to not only alleviate the stress,but to make it fun and memorable.
From one east coast island to another on the west, Selena now enjoys living a slower pace of life on Gabriola Island. When she is not teaching she is exploring all the island has to offer and planning future travels around the globe.
