Ages 12+ | CPS Canadian Power Squadron
3 hours of presentations covering all you need to know to pass your Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) Exam, and includes an opportunity to sit and write the exam. Topics covered: laws and regulations pertaining to boat ownership and boating in Canadian waters; safety and distress signaling equipment needed on various pleasure craft; refueling safely; loading a small boat for stability; common “things that go wrong”, their prevention and tips for handling emergencies; collision regulations (rules for give-way and stand-on vessels); navigation basics and navigation aids; use of Charts and Tide Tables.

If participants don’t want a study manual, but plan on writing the Exam for the $50 fee, they need to register by email to the Gabriola CPS Education Officer: seo-gabriolaisland@cps-ecp.org
Participants wanting to review the course material, without writing the PCOC Exam may attend at no cost.
